about

Dance Music > Travel > Community
"Soulsonic Transportation for Global Consciousness"

Supporting community efforts around the world through electrifying music that's woven around culturally and environmentally inspiring field recordings taken from global travel adventures.

1.Circumnavigate the globe on a 6 month travel adventure
2.Collect environmentally and culturally relevant recordings/samples
3.Where these recordings are taken, connect with an organization that is helping there community
4.Make the music and give back by raising awareness and proceeds for the community projects when distributing it

The Sonic Nomad Project is an experiment in creative travel using sound and music to engage the travel experience and to give back to the communities that were experienced on the journey as a natural repercussion.

Sounds were recorded from interesting, environmental, and culturally relevant atmospheres from all around the world on the travels to be used in, inspire, and in some cases to actually create, music.

The feeling and tonality of the samples were, in most cases, the inspiration for where the music went and what kind of rhythmic and melodic elements manifested. In most cases the samples are showcased in the songs’ introductions just as they were recorded so you can feel the realness and power of these places, events, and people (from construction following a hurricane in Fiji, to a Gecko in Thailand, to a Singing Bowl in India, to musicians who are land mine victims in Cambodia, along with several more). The album courses through multiple moods and genres on this journey through driving progressive and tech house to world beat fusion and ambient soundscapes to experimental rhythmic compositions built entirely, or almost entirely, on the creative manipulation of the field recordings.

The reason this Album is entitled “Volume 1” is because Astro Hawk is planning this to be an ongoing project to continue bringing together his three loves of dance music, travel, and building a healthy global community. And he hopes you’ll join him for the ride! “One Earth, One Tribe”
